MIDFLORIDA Credit Union was founded in 1954 as the Polk County Teachers Credit Union, serving local educators in Lakeland, Florida. Young history teacher, Rebecca Keith, was asked to manage the credit union as its first treasurer and was known to keep those early deposits in a shoebox at her home.

Over the years, we've expanded our membership and now reach areas across the state. With nearly 65 branches and over $8 billion in assets, we offer a wide range of financial services while maintaining a commitment to community-focused, personalized service.

This superior rating recognizes our strength and stability, and maintains our position on their list of recommended financial institutions.

The Board of Directors consists of eleven volunteer positions elected each year at the Annual Meeting of the Membership. The board is responsible for overseeing the credit union and guiding MIDFLORIDA’s senior management in all operations of the credit union.
