Join us for our 70th Annual Meeting of our members.
In addition to general business, the election of Board of Directors for 2023 will occur.
The following candidates have been selected by the nominating committee:
CHET BROJEK – 3-year term
Chet retired after 35 years in the Highlands County School system where he was a teacher, track coach and athletic director at Avon Park High School. Chet serves as founder/president of the Central Florida Striders Runners Club. The native Floridian is a resident of Sebring and active in numerous community events and civic clubs. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Chet has served as a credit union volunteer since 1981.
GARY RUHLE – 3-year term
Gary is a CPA with more than 20 years of financial management experience in the food service and hospitality business. Prior to working in private industry he was in public accounting where he gained knowledge of credit union accounting and auditing matters. A long-time Lakeland resident, Gary is a graduate of Florida State University. He served on the Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee for 13 years before joining the Board of Directors in 2006.
JOHN UPPERCO – 3-year term
John J. Upperco Jr., is a longtime Orlando resident. He is married to Randi Brooks and retired from Lockheed Martin after 35 years in financial management. He is a currently board member of the Mennello Museum, MEUSF, and director of the credit union. He graduated from the University of the South (BA) and Florida Institute of Technology (MBA). John is an adventure traveler, recreational golfer, serial volunteer, award winning winemaker and rescues Greyhounds.
HARRY WILLIAMS – 3-year term
Harry retired from the education system after having served as the principal for Bartow Middle School and Compass Middle Charter School. Harry is a native Floridian; is active in many education and community boards both locally and statewide; and holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University as well as a master’s degree from Rollins College. His volunteer work for the credit union began in 1991 and he served as Chairman of the Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee in the past.
Members desiring to run for elective office are required to submit their petition for nomination to the President of the credit union by February 28, 2023. The petitions, which may be picked up at our corporate office, must be signed by a minimum of 500 members of this credit union. All members must be present at the annual meeting to exercise their voting rights. The election will not be conducted by ballot when there is only one nominee for a position.
