Changes to Relationship Checking
Due to regulatory changes, we are restructuring the credit union’s checking account programs. An evaluation of the Relationship Checking account revealed that some benefits were rarely used and would have little impact on members if removed.

You will still retain paid dividends on your checking account, free custom check orders, free cashier’s checks, free overdraft transfers from savings accounts, free Publix ATM transactions, free Online Banking, free Online Bill Payment, free eStatement and discounted safe deposit box rentals.

However, effective September 1, 2010, the following products and services will no longer be available free of charge to Relationship Checking customers: money orders, travelers cheques, overdraft transfers from loans and paid insufficient funds (overdrafts) on checks.

In making this decision, the board’s and management’s only goal is to maintain the credit union’s financial strength and stability.

Hurricane Preparedness 101: Your Homeowners Policy
A Message from Heacock Insurance

Do you have sufficient coverage to allow you to rebuild or repair any damages to your home? Construction costs, labor costs and even fuel costs to deliver supplies have all increased steadily in the past few years, potentially leaving you with a policy that’s not sufficient to cover that increased cost.

Do you have or need flood insurance? Flood insurance is an additional policy to a standard homeowners insurance policy and is backed by the federal government. It’s traditionally only required on properties located within a known flood zone, however, in recent hurricane seasons many homes fell victim to flood that were not prone to flood in the past.

Do you have replacement value on your personal belongings or a set amount? Either option is fine to have, but you’ll want to make sure you understand what your policy covers. A set amount may or may not be enough to replace all the valuables lost in a storm. A policy that includes replacement value should allow you to get the exact items replaced, regardless of the retail cost.

For help understanding your existing homeowners policy or to get a quote on a policy that may give you the coverage you want during this storm season, call Heacock Insurance.

A Baby Investment
A Message from Heacock Financial Group

The birth of a baby usually makes a big impact on Mom and Dad’s lifestyle and the shortage of money can rank right up there with sleep deprivation. Some items that should become priorities for the new parents are:

Budget: If both parents return to work, 10-20 percent of your salary can end up going toward child care – which can impact your budget.

Health Insurance: Sufficient coverage is important before you become pregnant! Figures for delivery are $6,500 - $11,000 according to a Metropolitan Life Insurance study.

Life Insurance: Coverage equal to at least 6-10 times your annual income is recommended. Disability insurance should not be overlooked and should replace at least 60 percent of your income in the event you need it.

Savings: Plan to have a short-term emergency fund (enough for up to six months). Contribute to tax-deferred, employer-matched retirement vehicles, then consider putting more away into an IRA. Consult a financial planner about setting up a separate college fund.

Will: Have your will updated or draw up a new one. Name a guardian and an alternate, plus someone to manage your child’s assets. Consider placing his or her inheritance in a trust.
